New Staff Coming to First Church in the Fall of 2022
First Church Family,
On Sunday, August 13th, there was a joint congregational meeting to hear from our combined Search Team members regarding the hiring of a new minister and staff person who would serve both congregations.
There were over 100 people in attendance or on Zoom, from both churches, to hear the presentations and vote on the motions that the Search Team made and fully endorsed.
As a result of the meeting, we are very excited to announce that Reverend Paul Browning will begin in a full time position, shared between Central and First, with a start date of October 4th, 2022. Reverend Paul is in a position of retirement; therefore he indicated that he has the potential to be with us for five years, with his contract being renewed yearly.
The second individual is Austin Campbell, who comes through a Designated Congregational Ministry position. Austin will serve as Community Engagement Co-ordinator and will start September 6th, 2022. Austin’s position is for 30 hours per week, between the churches. Austin comes with skills and experience, beyond his young years. Reverend Browning and Austin worked together at their recent past churches, Trinity and Mount Zion United in London.
We would like to thank the combined Search Teams for all of their hard work in finding our new church leaders. They received 18 applications and also reached out to 28 other ministers who were found on the official ChurcHub website. Countless hours were spent reviewing all application Profiles, as well as watching past sermons of the candidates that applied.
We look forward to welcoming our new minister and staff person, with gracious and open hearts, as we move on to what promises to be a bright future for our two churches.
